Hi, I’m Tyler!
I am running for BUSD School Board because I believe our community deserves great schools. If elected, I will serve the students, families, and educators of our community, so that together we provide a stellar education for kids in Bishop.
My Platform
Foster a Culture of Learning
I plan to:
Work towards improving our English and Math proficiency (according to a recent LCAPP plan released by BUSD our district performs 10 points below state average consistently, pg. 8 of 90, link here)
Meet regularly, with teachers K-12 to hear what they know the students need to have a learning experience where they ultimately learn what they need to meet grade level proficiency
Support the integral arts, recreation, and leadership programs
Improve Post Graduation Readiness
I plan to:
Support growth of the Career Technical Education program for high schoolers (Agriculture, Ag Mechanics, Vet Tech, Education)
Explore current early intervention for life readiness for our middle schoolers
Develop modern resume and interview skills resources
Support high school counselors and find partnerships to help cover costs of testing
Prioritize Whole Child Wellbeing
I plan to:
Center and consider mental and physical health of our students in every decision
Encourage ongoing agriculture programs, like the Elementary School Farm and integration of local food into schools
Support free health resources like Bronco Clinic and NorthStar Counseling

Executive Director of an
Afterschool Program
I run an afterschool program for teens in Bishop in 7th - 12th grade. I make long term strategic decisions, including challenging budget decisions. I balance student and staff needs, and build community partnerships to provide more for our students.
Rotary Youth Services and Interact Coordinator
I support the Rotary Youth Services programs and help the BUHS Interact Club provide community service and build leadership skills. We volunteer at local events like the Choo Choo Swap Meet. I was part of a service club in high school and I know how important service experience is to build a foundation for involved citizens.
BUHS Dance Team Coach
Coaching and training the dedicated teenage girls on our dance team is one of the most rewarding parts of my life, and connects me with the student’s perspective on their high school.

We love our Wilkerson neighborhood because we can walk to Keough's! It's a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
